It all began with a simple idea.

Black hair, an immutable symbol of the black community, is where this journey began. Meditations on Black hair and its multiplicity led to this event, explored by each artist in a selection of works. Passed down through hands, hairstyles hold memories, products become powerful elixirs, and the bonds formed between people blossom from seeds sown by those who came before us.

We gathered artists who touch upon these symbols and stories through visual mediums, to celebrate the beautiful innovation of Black creativity.
